CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — Partner Community Capital (PCAP) has been awarded a $362,000 grant from the USDA Farmer’s Market Promotion Program (FMPP) to support West Virginia farmers, food entrepreneurs, and local market development efforts across the region.

The funding, awarded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service, will allow PCAP to expand educational programming, provide technical assistance, and increase access to training opportunities designed to strengthen local food systems and connect producers with new market opportunities.

Through the grant, PCAP will host a series of virtual and in-person trainings focused on topics including farmers’ market development, marketing strategies, business growth, and entrepreneurship within the local food economy. The initiative will also support the creation of educational resources and storytelling content, highlighting the experiences and successes of regional farmers and food-based businesses.

“This grant represents an important investment in the long-term success of local farmers and food entrepreneurs,” said Marten Jenkins, PCAP President & CEO. “By expanding access to training, resources, and market opportunities, we can help strengthen rural economies while supporting the individuals and businesses that are essential to our communities.”

The USDA Farmer’s Market Promotion Program supports projects that improve and expand domestic farmers’ markets, roadside stands, community-supported agriculture programs, agritourism activities, and other direct producer-to-consumer market opportunities.

Additional information about upcoming trainings and events will be announced in the coming months.

Funding for project was made possible by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service. Its contents are solely the responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily represent the official views of the USDA. USDA is an equal opportunity provider, employer, and lender.
