BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Partner Community Capital (PCAP) was selected by the Preservation Alliance of West Virginia to receive the Michael Gioulis Downtown Preservation Award as part of the 2026 West Virginia Historic Preservation Awards.
PCAP was recognized for its instrumental role in supporting the rehabilitation and revitalization of historic structures across West Virginia. Through its financing and community development efforts, PCAP has helped preserve the character and economic vitality of downtowns and rural communities throughout the state.
“This recognition reinforces what we see every day. Historic buildings are not just part of our past, they’re essential to our future,” said Marten Jenkins, President & CEO of PCAP. “By investing in these spaces, we’re helping communities retain their identity while creating new opportunities for small businesses and local economies to grow.”
Jenkins added, “We were honored to be recognized alongside so many dedicated preservation leaders across West Virginia. This award reflects the partnerships that make this work possible, from local developers and business owners to community advocates who believe in the power of place.”
The Preservation Alliance of West Virginia, a statewide grassroots nonprofit dedicated to historic preservation, has honored individuals and organizations for their contributions to preservation each year since 2009.
The award was presented during the 2026 West Virginia Historic Preservation Awards banquet, held in conjunction with the West Virginia Historic Preservation Conference on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the MAC Ice House.
PCAP joined a distinguished group of award recipients recognized for their dedication to preserving West Virginia’s historic resources and strengthening communities through thoughtful redevelopment.
